FAQs

What types of therapy do you offer?

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I provide individual counseling to adults 18+. I offer a free, 15 minute phone consultation to new clients to discuss the therapy process. I use a variety of evidence-based interventions and encourage you to read about me or contact me to discuss further.

Occasionally group therapy may be offered but at this time, I am only offering individual counseling. I can provide referrals if additional treatment options are needed, such as a physician to manage medication; a program for intensive outpatient services; or a listing of area support groups. Sometimes a combination of counseling and additional/supplemental treatment is needed. Or you may find another referral completely. The priority is finding what works for YOU.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Prospective clients should email me (quickest method for response!) or call me and be prepared to discuss:

  • what you would like to get out of counseling;

  • when you’re free for appointments;

  • your insurance/ability to pay; and

  • whether you would like to meet virtually or in-person.

I often schedule a phone consultation to discuss treatment preferences and bridge current needs if there is a delay in scheduling the intake appointment.

Prior to the first appointment, you are asked to review some brief intake paperwork via a secure electronic portal. Accommodations can be made if individuals are unable to complete paperwork electronically. You are encouraged to consider your counseling goals, treatment preferences and needs.

What are the next steps after scheduling an appointment?

Upon scheduling an appointment, you will receive an email confirming the date/time and location of the appointment. Should you elect to participate in a virtual appointment, you will then be provided with instructions and confidential login information to access your video appointment via an online link (computer) or app (smart phone). Most appointments last about 45-55 minutes and conclude with a check-in to evaluate the effectiveness of the appointment and to discuss next steps. Some clients choose to start with weekly therapy appointments.

How do you pay for counseling?

Counseling services can be paid for:

  • Directly by the consumer, out-of-pocket;

  • Through existing insurance coverage; and

  • Through other health benefits, such as an Employee Assistance Program (“EAP”) or a Health Savings Account (“HSA”) for Flexible Spending Account (“FSA”).

Payments are due at time of service. Clients are fully responsible for all fees if insurance or another vendor does not pay for any reason. There are charges for all program services, including therapy, consultations, preparation of special reports or treatment summaries, or other services you may request. These services are charged on a prorated basis (I will break down the hourly session cost).

*Please contact me to discuss sliding-scale services so that finances do not prevent individuals from accessing needed services.

How do you pay for counseling?

It is the client’s responsibility to confirm eligibility and benefit coverage for all insurance plans through which you are a member and informing me immediately of any change in your insurance plan or benefit coverage. Clients are responsible for any charges incurred if coverage has changed or lapsed and I am not informed in advance.
